Covered employers include:

  • Public Agencies – Local, state, and federal employers, including public schools.
  • Private-sector Employers – Businesses with 50 or more employees for at least 20 workweeks in the current or previous calendar year.

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you’ll need to inform your employer about your need for FMLA leave. Your employer may request certification from a healthcare provider.
