Frequently Asked Questions About Detox
Entering a detox program is a big and courageous decision. It is natural to have questions about what to expect. Below are answers to our most common inquiries.
If you still have questions or concerns, please feel free to give us a call at (762)242-6556. We are always happy to discuss the specifics of our detox programs so that you can confidently enter the first phase of your recovery journey.
While in detox, individuals are given 24/7 supervision and support. Our caring team will administer specific medications to lessen withdrawal symptoms and ease cravings. We also offer an effective range of therapies to help individuals work through the underlying factors of their condition and learn valuable coping skills.
Due to the serious nature of withdrawal symptoms, detox is highly recommended for any individual struggling with substance misuse. Substances that require detox include:
Detoxing at home can be highly dangerous and can severely impact a person’s mental and physical well-being. Undergoing drug detox at a proper facility allows you round-the-clock access to qualified medical providers. These professionals monitor you for any complications while keeping you as comfortable as possible. This ensures your safety while significantly reducing your risk of relapse.
The exact duration of detox depends on the type of substance a person is addicted to, how long they have been using this substance, and how frequently they use it. Other factors that determine the length of detox include a person’s medical history, whether or not they have relapsed in the past, and whether they have any co-occurring mental health disorders. In most cases, our detox programs last between one and two weeks.
Detox is typically the first step in the recovery process. For the most effective outcomes, it is best to seek further substance use treatment after successfully completing a detox program. The most comprehensive form of addiction care is residential rehab, as it allows individuals to fully focus on recovery without the triggers and stresses of the outside world.
Following residential rehab, programs such as a partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), and outpatient program (OP) are conducive to an individual’s long-term sobriety. Aftercare treatment and sober living services are also powerful resources for continued success.
We offer the following therapeutic services at our Georgia-based detox center:
At Retreat of Atlanta, we offer extensive mental health and dual diagnosis programming. We work closely with clients struggling with conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, and OCD, so that they can achieve long-term symptom reduction and, ultimately, an improved quality of life. Furthermore, our dual diagnosis program addresses both mental health challenges and addiction simultaneously to provide a comprehensive approach to healing.
